Appointment of a Lay Independent Co-Opted Member of West Mercia Police and Crime Panel

Minutes:

Summary of the proceedings during which the press and public were excluded (this is a fair summary of the proceedings and there are exempt minutes).

The Panel was required to appoint two independent (non councillor) co-opted members. The West Mercia Police and Crime Panel tasked the Independent Member Appointment Panel with conducting and making an appointment to the independent member vacancy on the Panel.

In making these co-options, The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 requires that the Panel must ensure the overall Panel membership meets the balanced objective in skills, knowledge and experience necessary to discharge its functions effectively.

After the interview process, the Panel agreed that the Chairman would be authorised to offer the successful candidate (subject to successful references) the position of Lay Independent Co-opted Member on the West Mercia Police and Crime Panel, which would be followed up with a formal offer in writing.
