The Committee exists to
promote and maintain a high standard of conduct by County
Councillors and co-opted members. It is politically balanced and
includes 3 persons who are not Councillors and are entirely
independent of the Council.
Members of the public may participate by presenting a
petition, asking a question or making a comment having given
appropriate notice (at least by 9.00 am on the morning prior to the
Standards and Ethics Committee date).
The Council has a Code of
Conduct that sets out the rules governing the behaviour of its
Members. All elected Councillors, co-opted and independent members
of the Council with voting rights (collectively called "Members"),
are covered by this Code and are expected to follow it.
