Appointment of Director of Public Health

The Panel noted the recruitment process to date for the post of Director of Public Health.  The appointment was required to be approved by the Secretary of State for Health to provide a level of assurance over the relevant professional competencies, a role which was carried out by the Office of Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID).  Dr Sue Ibbotson was representing the OHID at this Panel meeting.

 

An Advisory Appointments Committee had met, comprising the Chief Executive, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, OHID Regional Director (formerly Public Health England), Senior NHS representative and Faculty of Public Health Assessor.  The Panel had approved shortlisted candidates to progress to final interview.

 

Having interviewed the shortlisted candidates, the Panel

 

RESOLVED: that

 

(a)  Dr Lisa McNally is appointed to the post of Director of Public Health, subject to formal written offer; and

 

(b)  The Assistant Director for HR, OD and Engagement in consultation with the Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Health and Wellbeing, is authorised to settle the detailed terms of the contract.
