Appointment of Director of Public Health

Minutes:

The Panel meeting had been convened to interview for the permanent post of Director of Public Health but the candidate who was due to attend had withdrawn.  The Panel was asked to confirm its agreement to the readvertisement of the vacancy.

At its meeting on 13 April 2022, the Panel agreed that the Chief Executive in accordance with the constitution would appoint to the interim DPH role for up to 4 months, anticipating that there would be an appointment to the permanent position in that time (ending on 13 August).  It was now unlikely that an appointment would be made to the permanent post by that date, so the Panel was asked to agree to extend the period of the interim role until the permanent post was filled.

The Panel considered options for the approach to recruitment to the permanent post and agreed that an executive search partner should be procured.

RESOLVED; that the Panel

(a)  Confirmed that the permanent post of Director of Public Health should be readvertised, and the services of an Executive Search partner is procured to proactively search and manage candidates through the recruitment process; and

(b)  Appointed Elizabeth Altay to the post of Director of Public Health on an interim basis until the permanent successful candidate commences employment.
