Summary of the proceedings during which the press and public were excluded (this is a fair summary of the proceedings and there are no exempt minutes)

 

Following approval by Council of Organisational Re-Design proposals, an Appointments etc Panel held on 27 September 2019 approved the approach for appointments to the Chief Officer posts in accordance with the Council’s policies.

The Panel held on 20 December 2019 approved the approach for the appointment to the post of Assistant Director for Highways and Transport Operations in accordance with the Council’s policies, with the post being advertised internally in the first instance.

 

Internal expressions of interest were sought. One application was received and in accordance with the agreed process an external assessment was undertaken based on leadership competencies and the results of this were reported to the Panel.

The Panel interviewed the applicant and RESOLVED that:  

(a)      the post of Assistant Director for Highways and Transport Operations be offered to Paul Smith, subject to formal written offer; and

 

(b)      authorised the Strategic Director for Economy and Infrastructure, in consultation with the Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways, to settle the detailed terms of the contract for the successful applicant.
