Minutes:

Summary of the proceedings during which the press and public were excluded (this is a fair summary of the proceedings and there are no exempt minutes)

Background

On 13 February 2019 the Appointments etc. Panel agreed to the creation of a new permanent role, Assistant Director (Education & Early Help), and further agreed to the immediate internal recruitment for the position, and to seek external recruitment if needed.  There was a robust shortlisting process by the Director of Children, Families & Communities, with HR support.  The Director summarised the situation and assessments.

The Panel was fully satisfied that Sarah Wilkins, currently the interim Assistant Director (Early Help and Commissioning) was a very suitable appointment for the post of Assistant Director (Education & Early Help) and agreed to offer her the post.

Consequently the extension of the existing interim arrangements for Sarah Wilkins as Assistant Director (Early Help & Commissioning) and Nick Wilson as Assistant Director (Education and Skills) as previously agreed by Panel on 13 February 2019, would cease from an appropriate future date to be agreed by the Director of Children, Families & Communities.

RESOLVED that:

(a)  Sarah Wilkins be appointed to the post of Assistant Director (Education & Early Help), subject to formal written offer; and

(b)  the Director of Children, Families and Communities be authorised, in consultation with the Head of HR/OD, to make the necessary arrangements, including remuneration, for such appointment and all such changes set out in the report.
