Director of Adult Services

Minutes:

[This is a fair summary of the meeting in exempt session]

On 5 February 2018 Avril Wilson was interviewed and appointed by the Appointments Etc. Panel as Interim Director of Adult Services for a period of up to 12 months. She commenced her contract with the Council as Interim Director of Adult Services on 19 February 2018 on an agency basis, and this appointment was due to expire on 18 February 2019.

The Council is required to have a statutory Director of Adult Social Services (DASS) and has designated the Director of Adult Services post as the statutory DASS.  Avril Wilson currently holds this statutory designation.

The Panel was aware of the ongoing work in relation to Worcestershire Children First and also the organisational re-design; it was currently unknown what impact this would have on Adult Services in the future.  Therefore, it was recommended that the appointment to Director of Adult Services remained on an interim fixed-term basis at this stage.

Consideration had been given as to how best to fill this statutory role and maintain stability within Adult Services, and it was recommended that a further interim appointment of Avril Wilson be made.

The Panel agreed that the role of the Director of Adult Services continue to be filled on an interim/temporary basis, and that this role be offered to Avril Wilson to continue as Interim Director of Adult Services.
